Wouter Vrancken will no longer be the coach of Racing Genk for the end of the Playoffs. We now know who will replace him, on an interim basis.

KRC Genk has not yet made the news official, but it is already known to everyone: Wouter Vrancken will not end the season in Limburg. In advanced negotiations with La Gantoise, the Racing Genk coach will leave the club with immediate effect, with three Champions Playoff matches remaining.

A decision that could very well shake up this end of the season. Genk indeed finds itself without a coach, while the Limburgers could be one of the referees in the title race starting this Sunday, away to Anderlecht.

It remains to be seen if this departure of a Vrancken whose message was no longer necessarily getting across can wake up Genk, who remain on three consecutive defeats. In any case, we know who will be on the bench to act as interim, while waiting for a successor to be found.

THE Nieuwsblad we learn this Thursday that Domenico Olivieri, one of the club’s assistants, led the training session this morning, assisted by Michel Ribeiro and Eddy Vanhemel. This trio will finish the season. Vrancken’s deputies, Kevin Van Dessel and Glenn Vanryckeghem, already at his side at Mechelen, will accompany him to La Gantoise.

For Olivieri, faithful servant of KRC Genk, this will already be the fourth interim. Former youth coach, this former player of RFC Seraing and La Louvière had been the assistant of Philippe Clément, Felice Mazzù, Bernd Storck, Hannes Wolf and John Van den Brom.
