Casablanca puts its villas on sale to finance CAN 2025 and the 2030 World Cup

The municipality of Casablanca should approve during the next Council session scheduled for October, a budget of 7 billion dirhams intended to cover expenses linked to the organization of the 2025 African Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup .

The auction of the municipality’s real estate should make it possible to mobilize these funds. This concerns a plot of land of 2,740 m², located in the Aïn Chock district including two villas and several buildings and a property with an area of more than 5,000 m² in the Maârif district housing 21 villas.

Some properties are rented at ridiculous prices (barely 250 dirhams per month), creating significant shortfalls in revenue for the municipality, deplored the deputy mayor of Casablanca, stressing that the revenue generated by the sale of these properties will be used to acquire new properties.

The Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, chaired last Wednesday at the headquarters of the Wilaya of the Casablanca-Settat region, a meeting devoted to examining the progress of development and sports infrastructure projects as part of the organization of the 2030 World Cup.
