R1. Lamballe FC – Ploërmel FC: 3-1

The score doesn’t say it but the match was undecided until the 82nd minute of play when Kevin Laurent scored his team’s third goal. The former Briochin thus extinguished the last hopes of Morbihan.

The latter, benefiting from a fairly strong wind in the first period, went on the attack from the start of the match. The locals, without panicking, then managed to contain them. In the 15th minute, the Lamballais benefited from a free kick on the left side. Hit by Kevin Laurent (already), he was taken back from Bekhit’s head against Persehaie, thus allowing the locals to take the advantage. Eight minutes later, Le Cygne took a cross from Laurent from the left from twenty meters at ground level and doubled the lead for his team. Nothing more will be scored before the break, despite a good reaction from Ploërmel.

“The victory of efficiency”

In the second half the visitors were more enterprising. After a free kick from the left, Rouillé headed back and scored (2-1, 54′). The Morbihannais could have done it again, they often played the game in the middle of the field but without creating clear chances against a Lambal defense that was always well placed.

The Penthièvre players, for their part, had several opportunities on counterattacks, notably by Blanchet (60′, 65′, 80′). But it will therefore be necessary to wait until the 82nd minute for Kevin Laurent to score a third goal for the locals on an opening from Blanchet, thus delivering his team which, although it was often mishandled, created more chances than its opponent. “We are frustrated, we often played the game but we lacked efficiency,” lamented Jérôme Maret, the Ploërmel coach, while Pierre-Yves David, the Lamballais coach, spoke of “the victory of courage and efficiency. We had a bit of success, but we were opportunistic and we could have scored more goals.”

BUTS. Lamballe: Bekhit (15′), Le Cygne (23′), Laurent (82′); Ploërmel: Rouillé (54′).
