The name of forward Jakob Pelletier was placed on waivers by the Calgary Flames on Sunday.
Selected in the first round (26th total) by the Flames in the 2019 draft, the Quebecer was unconvincing during training camp. He amassed no points and maintained a -3 differential in three preparatory games.
Pelletier has a one-year contract worth $800,000. He signed this agreement on September 13.
The Quebec native has 37 games of experience in the National League, and has amassed 10 points. Last year, he was limited to 13 games with the Flames. He also played 18 games in the American League.

It now remains to be seen whether another team on the Bettman circuit will take a chance with Pelletier. Reports suggest that the Montreal Canadiens and the Columbus Blue Jackets would have interest in the 23-year-old skater.
Pelletier is not the only talented Quebec forward available, since the Edmonton Oilers have placed sniper Raphaël Lavoie on waivers.
We will also monitor what happens to Ryan Suzuki, little brother of Nick, captain of the CH. The Carolina Hurricanes made him available to the 31 other teams.
Note that before November 1, it is the reverse ranking from last season which determines the order of priority of the waiver. The San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks, Anaheim Ducks and Columbus Blue Jackets thus have priority over the Canadiens.
