The rear of the Usap was satisfied with the energy deployed to defeat the Pau Section on the gong. After a bitter fight against the Béarnais, Louis Dupichot appreciated the character and convictions to achieve this new success.
Louis, was success decided on the very last action?
It’s true, we had difficulty setting up our game. We lacked commitment in the first half, and our conquest was missed in terms of precision. Afterwards we keep the ball for a few good sequences. Strength of character did the rest, and we at least know in which areas we need to improve.
Regardless of the way, victory was imperative to validate the success acquired the week before against Clermont?
I’m fine with winning lousy, no matter how we managed to achieve it. In two or three months, we will no longer think about the content, and we will remember the 4 points. Of course, we have to work, there have been changes and Pau remains a very good team who put us in difficulty for a long time without us losing our composure.
How did you experience the last game action?
I had just been replaced a few minutes before. But we knew we had to believe in ourselves and not get distracted. We go there, we come back to the penalty when we were refused the try just before, we should not give up. Last year we had some complicated matches at home. I think we remain calm today, the leaders have fulfilled their role and we finish with our arms raised.
Last year, you lost against Clermont and Pau at Aimé-Giral, the complete opposite of this season, is this a first lesson?
Each match has its story and we don’t look that far ahead. We were twelfth 15 days ago. This comes down to many aspects, but in preparation we don’t think about previous failures. We focus on strategy, we don’t really think about the rest and we have players capable of moving us forward even further today.
