Travel will be disrupted in certain areas of Quebec City this weekend due to the holding of the various events of the Beneva Quebec Marathon. Here is an overview of the main traffic obstacles.

Significant traffic on the ExpoCité site

Significant traffic is expected both Saturday and Sunday on the ExpoCité site, while the start and finish lines are located in this sector. Place Jean-Béliveau, the Grand Marché de Québec and the Videotron Center, which notably hosts the second Los Angeles Kings game on Saturday evening, remain open despite the sporting event taking place.

However, participants and visitors are invited to prioritize active transportation to get around the site. Bicycle parking will also be made available to cyclists, and bus tickets will be given free of charge to riders who request them to encourage them to use the services of the Capital Transportation Network.

Motorists are invited to pass through Soumande Street to reach the parking lot located near the Videotron Center, while a portion of Wilfrid-Hamel Boulevard will be closed to traffic during the events.

Saturday hindrances

For the first year, the 10 km race will be held on Saturday rather than Sunday. In this sense, the Pointe-aux-Lièvres and ExpoCité sectors as well as several adjacent streets will be closed to traffic this Saturday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. due to the holding of the 2 km, 5 km and 5 km events. 10 km.

Users of the Rivière-Saint-Charles linear park cycle path should also note that the section between the Lavigueur and Samson bridges will not be accessible between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

On the Rivière-Saint-Charles linear park cycle path, pedestrians and cyclists will not be able to access the section located between the Scott and Samson bridges between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Gradual reopening

The streets affected by the obstacles will be closed and reopened gradually between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., depending on the progress of the runners, indicates the City of Quebec in a press release, while specifying that local traffic could be disrupted from midnight in certain sectors.

As in other past years, crossing points are provided at a few places on the route to allow vehicles and runners to circulate.
