Since the start of the season, the Ligue 1 has a new diffuser with DAZN. The latter must reach a certain number of subscribers in order to hope to establish itself permanently in the French football landscape.
For a check for 400 million euros, DAZN acquired the rights to the Ligue 1 this summer by being the main broadcaster with 8 out of 9 meetings. However, the number of subscribers of the British platform in France could be worrying. Indeed, with just over 100,000 subscriptions sold on all broadcast platforms according to Abdellah Boulmajournalist for France Bluewho believes: “ Well below expectations, and without a significant investment, potentially from the Saudis, the platform risks not lasting financially for more than 2 years“. On this subject, the journalist Pierre Rondeau recalls: “ The exit clause was set at 1.5 million subscribers in 2026. Remember that Mediapro withdrew when it had more than 400,000 subscribers« .
