Without a club since his departure from Real Madrid in 2021, Zinédine Zidane is not bored. Between his charitable and advertising activities, he spends a lot of time with his growing family.
The Franco-Algerian world champion now has grandchildren and a role of “ Kabyle grandfather » which suits him well.
Zidane did everything in a precocious way both in his football career and in his private life.
Zizou ended his playing career at the age of 34, in 2006, when he was at the top of his game and his form. At 45, he became one of the best coaches in the world on the bench of Real Madrid with whom he achieved an unprecedented hat-trick in the Champions League.
In his private life, he didn’t hang around either. Barely in his fifties, he is already a grandfather for the third time.
His eldest son Enzo, 29, has three daughters, Sia born in 2022 and the twins Giulia and Kaia, who came into the world last May.
What Zidane does with his time
Among the Zidane, the family is sacred, as in Kabylie, their region of origin in Algeria. The special relationship between seniors and their descendants is perpetuated and Zinédine does not deviate from tradition.
In an interview with Le Figaro on the occasion of the launch of a Montblanc travel collection in Spain, Zidane was asked about what he does with his time outside of this type of campaign and charitable activities.

In “ On stone paths “, the autobiography he published in 2017, his father, Smail, who emigrated to France in 1953, recounted that on the night of the 1998 World Cup final, he did not watch the match and he therefore did not see his son’s two goals which allowed France to become world champion for the first time in its history.
That evening, and while the whole family was gathered in front of the TV, the patriarch was in the garden, taking care of one of Zizou’s sons.
« The evening of the World Cup final, I did not go to the Stade de France, nor in front of my television set. Malika (his wife, editor’s note) and I are looking after our grandson, Luca, the child of Yazid (Zinédine, editor’s note) and Véronique (…) I went out into the garden with Luca in my arms. It’s very mild at the start of summer, and I sit down on a chair to better rock my grandson who is sleeping like an angel. Tonight I must be the only one in the neighborhood not watching the game “, said Smail Zidane.
In the footsteps of his father
More recently, last May, one of his grandsons gave him a nice surprise in Aguemoune (Béjaïa) where the family was gathered to pay tribute to Farid, the eldest of the siblings who died in 2019.
Mehdi, Farid’s son, walked more than 250 kilometers from the Algiers airport to the village. In Aguemoune, he was welcomed by his grandfather, moved to tears.
