The Leopards of the DRC under 20 qualified this Tuesday, October 1 for the final of the CAN-U20 qualifiers, in the UNIFFAC zone. They beat the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the semi-final. The DRC reaches the final on penalties (4-3) and will face the Republic of Congo.

The Leopards thus qualified for the CAN U20, 11 years later.

The Leopards opened the scoring through Tonny Talasi. But the expulsion of Dieu Kalonji in the 31st minute complicated the task of Guy Bukasa’s men.

in fact, in the 30th minute, Dieu Kalonji involuntarily touched the ball with his hand in the penalty area. Referee Abdelkarim Ousmane whistles a penalty for Cameroon and gives Kalonji a red card.

Following this red card, the Cameroonians equalized from the penalty spot.

The score remained unchanged until the end of the match. The duel was settled on penalties.

And in this exercise, the Congolese were the most diligent. Congolese goalkeeper Yohann Bopaka stopped two Cameroonian shots.

With this victory, the Leopards qualify not only for the final of this tournament but also for the next African Cup of Nations in the category.

The DRC plays the final this Thursday, October 3 against Congo.
