Member of the senior French team since 2021, Léo Saladino, resident of the Antibes center and licensed at Vallauris, has not missed a European meeting since. Present again this year in Rimini, the 21-year-old gymnast took part in his second individual European apparatus final, after this vault in 2022. He was able to master his passage to the floor with solid content. He obtains 14,066 points and takes 5e place of the final. “It was cool. I had fun. It was my first floor final so I came to gain experience on this apparatus and simply succeed in this final”, confides Léo Saladino.
For his part, the native of Dijon, first licensed in his region, now a member of the Clamart Gym 92 club, Jim Zona, experienced his first individual European final in Rimini. A career marked by injuries had until now not allowed him to reach a major individual international final. It is now done with a controlled passage. Sick since the day before, the Insepien had to revise his exercise slightly. “It was a good experience. It’s my first European final. Afterwards I’ve been ill since yesterday so I wasn’t 100% and that’s why I made small mistakes because physically it was hard. It’s the first time that this has happened to me in competition, I hope it will be the last (laughing) but I would have been disappointed not to be able to compete because of that. explains the gymnast. He obtains 12,933 points and ranks 8e.
The floor final was won by Luke Whitehouse (GBR) followed by Artem Dolgopyat (ISR) and Krisztoger Meszaros (HUN). On pommel, Rhys McClenaghan (IRL) retained his title. Silver goes to Loran De Munck (NED) and bronze to Marios GEORGIOU (CYP).
