Four in a row for Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s players, as always, finished very strongly this Premier League season and obtained a fourth consecutive victory, on the Brighton pitch (4-0), during this late match for the 29th day, Thursday evening.

Led in particular by a great Phil Foden, author of a double, the Sky Blues return to one point behind leader Arsenal, with a game in hand – against Toteneham – and continue their crazy ride towards a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Apart from Real Madrid in the Champions League, no one seems capable of resisting City at the end of the season, and their competitors for the title can be very worried. The Mancunians continue to have their destiny in their hands and it would have taken a much less naive Brighton team to thwart the forward march of Kevin De Bruyne’s partners.

City undefeated in 30 matches

The Belgian showed the way to his partners this Thursday at the Amex Stadium, with a magnificent header from a cross from Kyle Walker (0-1, 17th). Roberto De Zerbi’s team may have bold principles, but they gave in on their opponent’s first three shots on target, certainly carried by a fiery Foden. The English international first had a lot of success with a free kick hit hard in front of the opponent’s area and deflected by Pascal Gross out of reach of Jason Steele (0-2, 26th).

After several risky ball exits, Brighton was punished by a recovery from Guardiola’s favorite who adjusted the opposing goalkeeper from the left (0-3, 34th). The match was already over at halftime. The Seagulls, at least, had the merit of believing in it until the end and they could have saved the honor twice from the penalty spot, following contentious situations not whistled by the referee (47th, 70th).

But they were finally punished once again by Manchester City, with a long ball to Kyle Walker, who entered the area on the right before breaking away to give the ball to Julian Alvarez. Steele may have called for a foul on the action, but the referee awarded the goal (0-4, 62nd). While Liverpool let go, only Arsenal now seems able to break the hegemony of the Mancunian club. But this will require a misstep from City, who are now 30 matches unbeaten in all competitions.
