Stuart Hogg (Montpellier) released on bail, trial scheduled for November 4 for moral harassment of his ex-wife

The Scottish MHR full-back is accused of moral harassment by his ex-wife.

Stuart Hogg, the former Scotland full-back who now plays for Montpellier, appeared before a court in Jedburgh on Tuesday 10 September on charges of domestic violence against his former wife and mother of their four children. The Scottish international (32 years old, 100 caps) was released on bail at the end of the hearing, reports the BBC. A trial is scheduled for 4 November at the Selkirk court. Although Stuart Hogg denies the accusations of moral harassment against his former wife, he has forbidden her to have any contact with her until then.

Shortly before his trial today, Hogg had been arrested by Scottish law enforcement and “charged with harassment offences and breaches of bail conditions,” explained the local police. In February and July last year, the former Scottish rugby star had already been arrested and taken into custody for “threatening and abusive behavior” towards his ex-wife.

Stuart Hogg had announced the end of his career on the eve of the World Cup in France in 2023. But he went back on his decision by committing to two seasons with the MHR, initially as a medical joker for international full-back Anthony Bouthier. He made his debut in the French championship on Saturday against Lyon, notably scoring a try in his new colours.

The Scottish full-back, who played for Glasgow and Exeter in particular, scored 171 points with the XV du Chardon. He also played in two World Cups and won the Champions Cup and the Premiership, the English championship, with Exeter.
