At a rally in North Carolina on Thursday, September 12, the Democratic candidate for the White House believes that Americans deserve a second debate between her and Donald Trump before the November vote. The Republican refuses any new confrontation.

The duel between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump continues remotely. Two days after a debate watched by millions of people, the two candidates continue to march through the decisive states in the election on Tuesday, November 5. Unless there is a turnaround, they are unlikely to see each other again on a television set in the coming weeks, as the Republican has refused a new debate.

“There will be no third debate,” Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social network, claiming that the one organized by ABC had been “rigged” in favor of his Democratic rival.

Minutes later, on the stage of a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, Kamala Harris called for a new televised confrontation.

“Two days ago, Donald and Trump and I had our first debate. And I think we owe it to the voters to have another debate,” she said to cheers from her supporters. “This is the election that’s at stake and there’s nothing more important,” the vice president justified.

As soon as the debate ended on Tuesday, September 10, Kamala Harris’ campaign team indicated that the Democrat was “ready” to face Donald Trump once again.

While these televised events have been highlights of the election campaign for more than 60 years, their impact on the vote often remains limited. With one notable exception: the debate in June between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, which greatly precipitated the Democratic president’s withdrawal from the court, one of the greatest political upheavals in modern American history.

A forthcoming debate will still take place… between the running mates of the two candidates. Democrat Tim Walz and Republican JD Vance will meet on Tuesday, October 1 in New York for a duel organized by CBS News.
