PARALYMPIC GAMES – A huge false hope. The closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games ended this Sunday, September 8th with a concert of French electronic music, with international stars Martin Solveig, Kungs and Ofenbach invited on stage. But not Daft Punk.

The pioneering group of French Touch broke up in 2021 and many fans were hoping for their return for the exceptional event that is the Paris Games. They believed in it until the end, and even more so when the last music of the closing night began to sound.

The first, so recognizable notes of One More Time, their 2000 hit, resonated in the Stade de France, making you believe they were on stage. But as you can see in the images above, the members of the helmeted duo composed of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo were not there.

The party is over

Enough to disappoint Internet users who were numerous to react, as you can see in the messages posted on social networks compiled below. Others were nevertheless delighted to listen to Daft Punk again and see it as a very beautiful tribute.

The rumor about their possible arrival had been going strong for several weeks. But the musical director of the 2024 Olympic ceremonies Victor Le Masne denied it at the beginning of August on RMC: “It’s a huge group, but it doesn’t exist anymore. We have to respect the fact that they stopped a few years ago.”

The evening ended with a huge fireworks display over the Stade de France. The 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games are definitely over and the flame is extinguished. The next party will take place in four years in Los Angeles.
