Olympique de Marseille could try to make a splash on the transfer market by securing the services of Marcus Rashfordthe English striker of Manchester United. Although this track seems complicated but not impossible, it would represent a huge challenge for the Marseille club. Indeed, Nabil Djellitjournalist at France Football, recalls that “Rashford was discussing with Nasser (Al-Khelaïfi) and his brother to sign for PSG two years ago”.
A very high level profile coveted by European leaders
Marcus Rashford is a world-class player who was “destined for Bayern, Barça, Liverpool… well, that category of clubs”according to Nabil Djellit. Seeing him join OM, a club which “is not in the Champions League and plays in Ligue 1”would therefore be a real feat for Marseille. However, despite the obvious challenges, the sun believes that “it would be great for OM and Ligue 1” to pull off this XXL shot.
A major challenge for OM on a sporting and financial level
Beyond the purely sporting aspect, attracting Marcus Rashford would represent an immense financial challenge for Olympique de Marseille. The English international, courted by the biggest European teams, certainly has a very big salary at Manchester United. Raising the necessary funds to convince him to join Ligue 1 would therefore be an extremely costly operation for the Marseille club. Nevertheless, the arrival of such a player would bring a huge spotlight on OM and the French championship.
A potential historic transfer with major repercussions
If Olympique de Marseille managed to complete this resounding transfer of Marcus Rashfordit would be a truly historic event for the club and Ligue 1. Nabil Djellit also emphasizes that “for Rashford, it would be the slide” by leaving a club like Manchester United for OM. But beyond the strong symbol, this arrival could have considerable sporting and economic repercussions for the Marseille project.
