Looking for a goalkeeper since the departure of Brice Samba to Rennes at the beginning of the month, RC Lens has finally found what they are looking for. And it is in Italy that the northern club found its new goalkeeper.
A few days ago, RC Lens thought they had found what they were looking for by reaching an agreement with OM for the loan of Pau Lopez. The Spanish goalkeeper had also gone to the North to sign his contract but the deal was canceled because of the Girona club, which ultimately refused to break the player's loan from Marseille at the last moment. A hard blow for Lens, which had at the same time validated the departure of Brice Samba to Rennes. Result of the races, Hervé Koffi has taken over as interim since the departure of the ex-captain of the Sang et Or, but Will Still was categorical with his leaders on the need to recruit a new starting goalkeeper.
The Lensois coach was listened to and at the start of the week, an agreement was reached with AS Roma for the loan without purchase option of Mathew Ryan according to journalist Marc Mechenoua. The 32-year-old Australian goalkeeper is expected in Lens this Tuesday to undergo his medical examination before committing to the northern club for the next six months. The loan will not include a purchase option for Mathew Ryan, at the end of his contract with AS Roma but who should automatically extend for one year at the Louve club thanks to a clause in his contract. Lens will therefore resolve its goalkeeper problem but temporarily, and this issue will be on the table again next summer.
