Tensions between supporters of AS Saint-Étienne and Olympique Lyonnais seem to be reaching new heights. In a disrespectful and reprehensible gesture, some Lyon supporters traveled to Geoffroy-Guichardthe legendary Greens stadium, to leave their unwanted mark there. This act of vandalism occurs at a crucial moment for ASSE, then engaged in a decisive match for maintenance against FC Nantes.

Despite the financial difficulties and sporting challenges facing their own club, some Lyon supporters seem to find the time and energy to focus on their rivalry with Saint-Étienne. Traveling a distance of 60 kilometers during the night, they spray-painted the stadium and the Greens store with insults against the club… and Gautier Larsonneur.
A worrying escalation of tensions
This incident is part of a series of events which testify to theescalation of tensions between the two camps. Mutual provocations and acts of vandalism only fan the flames of an already burning rivalry. It is crucial that the relevant authorities take firm measures to stem this spiral of violence before it escalates further. The safety of supporters, players and infrastructure must be a top priority.
