Usually very heated, the derby between OGC Nice and Olympique de Marseille was launched last night by Nice supporters, who had fun sticking stickers of Dimitri Payet on the city's bottle collectors, in reference to the bottle throwing of which the Marseillais were victims against OL in November 2021.
The derby is on. If it is often a match where strong tensions appear between the two clans, the meeting between OGC Nice and Olympique de Marseille scheduled for next Sunday is already the subject of the first tensions. Indeed, stickers bearing the image of Dimitri Payet have been spotted on bottle collectors in the city of Nice.
A way to provoke Marseille supporters, recalling the bottle throwing of which Dimitri Payet was the victim in November 2021 during OL-OM, leading to the suspension of the match. The supporters who created the collage are encouraging people to send bottles behind the back of the former Marseille number 10, with the hole for disposing of the garbage being positioned on his back.
Payet, usual target of Nice supporters
The former Marseille captain had already been targeted by Nice during a match between the two teams in August 2021, with a local ultra having tried to hit Payet as he entered the field. On Sunday, he will be absent from the field since he now plays for Vasco da Gama in the Brazilian Serie A.
-The match between Nice and Olympique de Marseille will be important for both teams since OM will try to maintain its 5-point lead over 3rd, Lille, and therefore keep this directly qualifying place for the Champions League. OGC Nice for its part wants to take off from Lyon, 6th, and above all can dream of the Top 4 in the event of victories, with the C1 still up for grabs.
