Engaged in a duel with a direct competitor, OGC Nice, LOSC produced one of the great performances of the weekend (2-1) and finds itself on the podium today.
After eliminating Olympique de Marseille in the Coupe de France at the start of the week, it was after an intense penalty shootout (1-1, 3-4 tab) on the Orange pitch. Vélodrome in addition, LOSC followed this Friday with a great home victory against OGC Nice (2-1). At first uninspired and logically leading the score, they ended up cracking following a powerful cross from Jonathan Clauss in the axis which Sofiane Diop sent to the back of the net (29'), Lille transformed in the second half to reverse the trend.
The revolt was launched by Hakon Haraldsson (48′), who concluded a good collective phase of play and was the consequence of a change made by Bruno Genesio. Osame Sahraoui, on the bench at kick-off, came on to dynamite the match and his incessant movements greatly disrupted the Nice rearguard. This early equalizer provided a serious highlight for the Mastiffs who followed up about fifteen minutes later with Bafodé Diakité (63'). The latter, who has already scored his third goal this season, recovered a ball that was poorly cleared by the Aiglons and propelled it into the back of the net. Solid, the Mastiffs then did not crack, despite a good last situation for Melvin Bard (88′), and offered themselves three precious points during a 21st consecutive match without defeat in all competitions.

The three points gained are indeed precious, very precious in the North where LOSC recently climbed to the third step of the podium following the failure of AS Monaco in Montpellier, bottom of Ligue 1. Runner-up of Paris Saint- Germain, who took the lead, Olympique de Marseille also lost ground by being neutralized by Strasbourg. The same goes for Olympique Lyonnais and RC Lens. It's quite simple, the Mastiffs represent the only team in the Top 8, with PSG, to have raised their arms during the weekend.
For the other lessons of the eighteenth day of Ligue 1, we must turn to the fight for maintenance in which the Montpellier residents are getting closer to their direct competitors with five points behind the first non-relegation team. Stade Rennais, defeated by the Pirates, finds itself more than ever in this fight when Angers, victorious three times consecutively in 2025, gets a serious breath of fresh air.
