An explosion followed by a fire set a garage in Tournefeuille, in western Toulouse, on fire this Monday, January 20. An employee was burned.
An explosion followed by a fire occurred this Monday, late in the morning, at a garage in Tournefeuille in western Toulouse. The firefighters were called around 10:30 a.m. to intervene at Impasse Marcel-Paul.
According to our information, an employee was busy siphoning the tank of a truck using an electric pump. For some unknown reason, the fuel ignited and the vehicle’s fuel tank exploded.
Offices catch fire
The fire spread to the building and two offices. The truck went up in smoke and another vehicle that was nearby was hit.
The employee was burned. After receiving treatment on site, he was transported, under escort, to the emergency room of Purpan hospital.
-All the people who were on the site had to leave the area quickly. Firefighters fought the flames and broke windows to evacuate the large amount of black smoke.
The police secured the scene. Specialists from the technical and scientific police had to carry out on-site surveys and findings.
