The debate is lively between supporters (Luzech Town Hall and project leaders) and opponents (Appel de la Forêt collective and local residents’ collective) at renovation project for the Caïx nautical baseon the Lotin the municipality of Luzech.

Following the article on the Caïx base development project published on Actu Lot at the end of December 2024 and signed by the Municipal Council, the L'Appel de la Forêt collective responds and communicates:

Not a simple renovation of a nautical base in decline in Luzech

“Thursday December 26, 2024, the elected representatives of the Luzech municipal council published in this newspaper a response to La Détresse du Quercy, a small gazette written by the collective l'Appel de la forêt, distributed at the beginning of December in the CCVLV (Community of communes of the Lot Valley and Vineyard). According to them, this collective of local residents would oppose the simple renovation of a nautical base in decline, and the national media would waste their time covering a derisory subject.

The Call of the Forest does not oppose the renovation

Let it be said: the Call of the Wild is not opposed to the renovation of the Caïx base! And if the subject seems trivial, it's because the municipal council absentmindedly forgot to talk about the essential: the ski lift! The first water ski lift on a river in , a “regional, national and international” project according to Ecolot, the company behind it.

This is a project which includes the construction of 8 pylons 12 meters high in a protected natural area, in the immediate vicinity of a place classified as a historic monument.

They denounce a “tremendous” cost

It is a project with a staggering cost, despite the 2 million euros of public money already saved thanks to the struggle of citizens, local residents and the Appeal of the Forest as well as the various actions carried out with residents. and elected officials. By the way, 2 million euros is the amount recently spent on the Prayssac health center, an otherwise essential investment in our rural areas.

It is a project carried out by a town hall with an already exorbitant debt rate, a town hall which alone signed an agreement with the company Ecolot (the CCVLV is not a signatory), thus allowing it the construction of the famous ski lift and the operation of the base and the restaurant for thirty years, against a low rent.

It is a project which is part of a vast program, called Atout Lot and which also includes the creation of a golf course and several luxury tourist accommodations.

Finally, it is a project in which the personal interests of several current or resigned elected officials interfere.

“Ubuesque and anachronistic”

Comparing the nuisances caused by this ludicrous and anachronistic project to the crowing of a rooster and brushing aside the protest by pitting the Lotois – ethnic (?) vs. neo-rural – is simply unworthy. The residents of the nautical base, who asked the town hall to review the project and to whom it did not take the trouble to respond, will undoubtedly appreciate being caricatured in this way.

The press release from the Luzech municipal council above all ignores the questions raised by the Distress of Quercy, although they are based on the study of sourced and official documents (sometimes issued by the town hall itself).

For information: the Appeal of the Forest having reported to the community council that the construction of the ski lift was planned in an area which prohibited it, the elected officials are therefore, with complete shame, quite simply in the process of modifying their own PLUI, less one year after its validation. We are no longer close to a contradiction.

A collective of whistleblower residents

The Call of the Forest is a collective of residents, whistleblowers, who defend nature and living things. He opposes the destruction of territories, landscapes and environments still preserved in our department. He is also alarmed, it is true, by the worrying forecasts relating to water resources in the Lot, which seems to make the elected officials of Luzech laugh a lot, while this crucial question is at the heart of the diagnosis of the vulnerabilities of the territory (study carried out by Cerema for the Department) and was raised very recently by the prefect through the press (but the members of Cerema, the elected officials of the department and the prefect are certainly also dangerous dwindling backward-looking people or worse, members of the Call of the Forest who ignore each other…).”
