Christine Bost (Métropole): “The third possibility is an investor, a buyer of the Girondins, who also wishes to take over the stadium”

At a press conference, the President of Métropole,
Christine Bostwas questioned about the future of the large Bordeaux-Lac stadium, and especially of the operator, SBA, for whom it is said that it will file for bankruptcy very soon. The President has visibly anticipated the “worst” with also three possible scenarios, including that of an outright takeover of the venue, and why not with the Girondins de Bordeaux club.

“We know the weaknesses of the operator of the large stadium. Obviously the Metropolis has prepared for all eventualities, which are multiple: firstly, a maintenance of SBA, secondly a liquidation of SBA… There, this would mean that the Metropolis would take over management, that is to say that she would manage the maintenance of the large stadium herself. Obviously, not its operation, because it is not made to organize concerts… And the third possibility is an investor, a buyer of the Girondins, who also wishes to take over the stadium. We are preparing for all these hypotheses, there is none that is favored by the Metropolis. We must, and I must, preserve public money and ensure that the situation we will have to face is the least deficit, the least restrictive for the metropolitan taxpayer.”
