“It’s the right time”, Simon Kjaer (ex-LOSC) ends his career

Free since his departure from AC Milan, Simon Kjaer announced this Monday that he was ending his career. He shone under the colors of LOSC from 2013 to 2015.

The viking lays down his arms. He had already made the choice to stop playing for his country after Euro 2024 and this news is only a logical continuation. After careful consideration, and despite the interests expressed by various European teams, Simon Kjaer (35 years old) announced that he would end his professional career this Monday. He was released by AC Milan on July 1, 2024 and preferred, while he was the victim of regular physical problems in Lombardy, to turn a page in his life.

“It really is the right time to close this chapterconfided the Dane in an interview with TV2. It was not a decision I made after the summer, but one I thought about all year before the European Championships. There's a lot of things that made it kind of like this: let's see what happens, but if fortune telling doesn't come, first and foremost for family and secondly for sport, then I will stop now. My end came at San Siro, and that experience… I kind of knew it was my end”he said.

Captain of the Danish national team for many years, Simon Kjaer ends his long career at the age of 35. In total, he played more than 500 matches across the continent, including 79 with the Mastiffs. He even scored four goals in , his third longest experience after Milan and Fenerbahçe. Alongside Marko Basa, he formed a pivot that will forever remain in the memory of LOSC supporters.
