First failure for the Fofana-Samba duo in Rennes

Just a few days after his departure for , Brice Samba made his debut with the Breton club on Saturday evening. Despite a rather successful personal performance, the former RC goalkeeper was unable to avoid the defeat of his new team against OM (1-2). Entered the game, Fofana School didn’t really have an impact.

Powerless Samba, invisible Fofana

There is no doubt that Brice Samba hoped for better for his very first match with Rennes. After a rather dull first half hour, the Bretons had a golden opportunity to open the score. Except that Arnaud Kalimuendo missed the opportunity to open the scoring when his penalty was saved by Geronimo Rulli (32′). The former RC Lens striker took his revenge just before half-time by completing a great collective action initiated on the right side (1-0, 43′). Except that OM immediately equalized through Mason Greenwood, who left Brice Samba no chance (1-1, 45′).

Entered at the start of the second period, following the concussion protocol triggered for Arnaud Kalimuendo, Fofana School was generally missed. Above all, OM only needed four minutes to double the lead with a lobbed header from Adrien Rabiot, leaving Brice Samba behind (1-2, 49′). Unable to pass the second, Rennes therefore lost for the tenth time this season. Enough to cause a lot of disappointment among the goalkeeper of the team, interviewed after the meeting by the broadcaster.

« I entered this field with a lot of pride for the warm-up, afterward the most important thing for me is to win matches, I don’t care about my personal case. I’m here to put this team as high as possible, as I try to do wherever I go. There are still positives to take away. We have a great team that is 2nd and even though we were a little sick, we managed to piss them off. It’s up to us to persevere, to work and, at some point, things will turn around. »
