Discover our tops and our flops following the draw between FC Nantes and AS Monaco (2-2), this Friday during the 17th day of Ligue 1.
The tops
Matthis Abline
Matthis Abline is the man in form on the Nantes side. Already a scorer in Lille last week, but also in Paris in December, the attacker is the main offensive weapon from Antoine Kombouaré’s team. He proved it again against Monaco this Friday by being poison for the Monegasque defense, while scoring the first goal of the match (12th).
Queue Thomas
Loaned by Huddersfield to Nantes this season, Sorba Thomas had not yet managed to prove his value in the Nantes jersey. The Welsh international did it this Friday by offering two assists from his right side, where he hurt the Monegasque defense, with two crosses for Abline then Amian (47th). Even if it wasn’t enough for Nantes.
Mohammed Salisu
Eighteen months after his arrival at AS Monaco, Mohammed Salisu holds his first goal in Ligue 1 ! Taking advantage of Anthony Lopes’ error (59th), the Ghanaian defender equalized for ASM with a powerful header. But beyond his goal, Salisu displayed real serenity defensively, even if his restarts sometimes left something to be desired.
-The flops
Anthony Lopes
After a successful premiere in Lille last week, Anthony Lopes had a complicated evening this Friday for his premiere at La Beaujoire in the Nantes jersey. If he can’t do anything about Embolo’s goal, the Portuguese international is guilty of the goal of the Monegasque equalizer signed Salisu (59th), when he completely misses his aerial exit from a corner. A mistake which is costly and which erases his stops in front of Camara (24th) and Ben Seghir (55th).
Eliesse Ben Seghir
In the last minute absence of Maghes Akliouche, ill, but also of Golovine and Minamino, Eliesse Ben Seghir had the task of livening up Monaco’s game at La Beaujoire. But the Moroccan international never managed to gain the upper hand over a Nantes team well grouped in his camp. Only one dangerous strike on the clock, repelled by Anthony Lopes above (55th).
Saïmon Bouabré
Described as the future gem of AS Monaco, Saïmon Bouabré had a difficult first start in Ligue 1. Replaced at the hour mark, the 18-year-old attacking midfielder did not impact the match and only touched 20 balls. Enough to measure the distance he has left before establishing himself in Ligue 1.
