Driving force behind Dunkirk’s very good first part of the season in Ligue 2, Ugo Raghouber gave a long interview to our colleagues at the excellent site The Little Lille. The opportunity for the young midfielder to reaffirm his desire to succeed with his training club. Selected pieces.
His season with Dunkerque
“To be honest, we didn’t have a specific ranking goal at the start of the season. The first thing was clear, it was to stay in Ligue 2. I don’t want to speak too quickly, but I think we are well on our way to doing so. For the rest, we see that there is perhaps something to play. There should be no mistake, because we see the matches one after the other. These are words used by the coach and I think he is right. You shouldn’t see too quickly, try to project yourself… It’s not just a formula to say that. (…) We progress gradually, with different work every week. We are not planning ahead for the end of the season. When there are two to three games left, that’s when we can see what we can set as a goal, if we can still go up or not. »
Son adaptation in Dunkirk
“It’s always special to join a new group. It’s a new life. We discover new people, new technical staff. This obviously had an impact on me, especially since the integration went perfectly. Everyone tried to put me at ease. I was surprised that it went so well. I also take this opportunity to thank the guys, but you shouldn’t say too much to them (laughing). […] I came here following the numerous discussions that we (Ugo, his father and his agent) had with Romain (Decool), Demba (Ba) and the coach (Luis Castro) and today, I think that the we can say that it was the right choice. »
His objectives for the second part of the season
“I need to be more decisive, whether with a goal or a pass. This is one of the points I need to work on. I made two assists, I haven’t scored yet. I think that for a modern environment, it is important to have this impact higher up on the pitch, to be decisive. I still scored three goals in the half of the season I spent at Le Mans. These are moments that we want to relive. These are other emotions, it’s obviously very pleasant. »
-His future at LOSC
“The desire to succeed in Lille is there. This is my training club. I did all my classes there and of course I want to play there. I am ready to fight for my place. I know it won’t be easy, but I think I’m ready for it, and even more so in six months. I always felt ready. I will never doubt my abilities and I will always be ready to respond if I am called upon. »
