Stade Rennais: after Nice, should we be worried about the SRFC?

Stade Rennais is still a little deeper in the depths of the L1 by losing yesterday in (2-3). Weighed down by the real fake transfer of Brice Samba, should we be worried about the Breton club? This is our debate…

A little anyway

“The performance of Stade Rennais in L1 is very disappointing. I'm not too worried about the Breton club in the medium term because it has strong financial backing, but it's a second season without Europe looming on the horizon, and I'm not sure that the SRFC will embrace a good trajectory with the men in place. Sampaoli, we see that the graft doesn't take and I'm not that surprised because on paper, it didn't stick too much.

I am also skeptical about Massara. Since his arrival, the Italian has not had a hollow nose. None of the players recruited this summer are really unanimous, and I find that has weakened with the departures of Terrier, Bourigeaud and the Doué brothers. I also deplore a loss of identity of the Breton club. Apart from Assignon and Truffert, the training center is not represented within the flag team and this is not normal given the quality of Rennes' training. Everything seems to be lost at the moment in Rennes, including the matches. Not to mention the real false arrival of Brice Samba. Not enough to restore the image. »

The best is yet to come

“I have no worries for Rennes. If I had to have one, it would just be about distance from the red zone, because I certainly don't see SRFC in the bottom three. Flirting with these places is currently the case, but it won't go further than that. The Rennais should just not feel too good just because they have a huge squad on paper. I am actually rather optimistic for Rennes, at least in the long term.

At worst, they will separate from Sampaoli this summer, and Arnaud Pouille will perhaps succeed in convincing Franck Haise to come and collaborate with him again. He has already done it to attract Seko Fofana, and is not going to give up anything for Brice Samba. This season and last season are big underperformances for the Breton club, but I am convinced that they will get off to a strong start next season, with Europe in their sights. This is also why Samba chose the Rennes project to the detriment of the Lensois project, which seems to be failing. Arriving a few months ago, Arnaud Pouille operates his network and places his men. But it will take results.”
