Sad match for the goalkeeper who could soon lose his number 1 place. A kicking game which worries from the start of the match, and is punished on the second Nice goal, a gift given to Diop by the goalkeeper, making it very hurt his team. Decisive on a strike from Boudaoui (78th), but not close on the first and third Nice goals. Mistakes that are costly.
Hateboer : 4
A certain confidence in cutting dangerous balls, but still these technical and speed limits, like the third Nice goal, where he leaves too much space for Laborde. The least precise of the three central passing players.
Ostigard: 4
Placed in his role of sentry, he did not bring security, taken behind his back like Faye on the first goal, and passed on the third. Not reassuring, not efficient.
Faye : 2
A good passing percentage which hides the harsh reality: two errors and two lost duels which result in two goals. Jostled by Guessand throughout the game, he came up against adult football and it was costly for Stade Rennes this evening.
Replaced at the hour mark by Fofana for a move to 4 central players, in a role of free electron in the middle, a little messy.
Assignon : 5
Offensive momentum and races, still imprecision, but at the end a strike at the end of a good movement which gives Truffert the goal, and gives hope to the Rennais.
Truffert : 5
Little visible in the first half but correct, he raised his level in the second half, with more technical mastery, and a 3-2 goal which restarted the match, in vain.
James : 5
The first to strike in this meeting, with an attempt on target (4th). Enterprising, far from Ndombéle on the first Nice goal, he catches up, at the origin of the first Rennes goal. Good link in the middle with the attack.
Replaced by Gomez for the last five minutes, reminding that his level is still far from that expected.
Matusiwa : 5
The good complement of James, assigned to ball recovery, which pays off on the second Rennes goal. Valuable in this area.
Blas : 5
Technically above several of his teammates, he gives the first assist to Kalimuendo to reduce the gap. Author of a good return from the locker room too, with an off-target shot (51st), then a header that almost deceived Bulka.
Gronbaek : 3
A new complicated meeting for the Dane, holder on the left wing but little in sight. A shot off target (18th) after Nice opened the score, then a lack of presence subsequently on his left side where he barely existed with Truffert.
Replaced at the break by Gouiri (4)author of a good entry for 10 minutes then invisible for the rest of the game.
Kalimuendo : 5
The right gesture which revives his team on a beautiful opening from Blas. Lighter in his team's play, well taken in marking and not technically accurate in the fixing point. But decisive when he had the chance.
