Is PSG for sale? In recent weeks a rumor has gained weight since the newspaper L'Equipe revealed that the Qatari owners could sell the club at a good price. A rumor quickly extinguished by the QSI spokesperson, who did not convince Daniel Riolo.
Last December, the newspaper The Team mentioned a potential sale of the PSG par QSIowner since 2011. Information which caused a lot of noise but which was quickly denied by people close to the Qatari leaders.
“It’s completely false”
Recently, a spokesperson for QSI wanted to categorically deny the rumors of the sale of the PSG : « This is completely false. The same newspaper writes the same bullshit week after week. Shareholders have just spent €350 million on Poissy, with other major Campus expansions just announced. They are planning to invest hundreds of millions in a new stadium, while increasing our investments in football, sports and entertainment, but apparently we are looking to sell. »
“It’s not an excuse.”
But this response from Qatar did not convince Daniel Rioloas he mentioned last December on the show l’After Foot : “In what is said to deflate what is not news, which is a rumor coming out from Doha, the fact that they spent €350M for the Campus, this is absolutely not an excuse or a justification for say no. It's an asset, it's valued, so on the contrary, you enhance the club and if you sell it, you sell it for more with an academy that is already ready to be used. Another argument that could go in this direction is the payroll which has been almost halved this year. The club has been put back on track in terms of financial fair play. All expenses are reduced. So, I'm not saying at all that it's going to happen, it's unverifiable and it's something that all journalists have received. And we were all a little surprised. »
