Seko Fofana is in the sights of Stade Rennais for the winter transfer window. The midfielder, on loan from Al-Nassr to Al-Ettifaq, is inclined to join the Breton club.
A year and a half after his departure for Saudi Arabia, Seko Fofana could return to Ligue 1. Stade Rennais is negotiating to recruit the 29-year-old midfielder during this winter transfer window. The Ivorian international has agreed in principle to join the Breton club, RMC Sport has learned.
The former Lensois midfielder (29 years old) had a contrasting adventure in Saudi Arabia. He is currently playing at Al-Ettifaq, as part of a loan from Al-Nassr, who recruited him in July 2023 for around 25 million euros. Other clubs are interested in the midfielder, but Rennes is in a good position.
President Arnaud Pouille was his director in Lens
In Rennes, Seko Fofana would find president Arnaud Pouille, who was the former general director of RC Lens. The latter and Frédéric Massara are maneuvering to achieve what would be a big blow in this winter transfer window.
Since the start of the season, Seko Fofana has played 15 matches in all competitions with Al-Ettifaq. In Ligue 1, Rennes is in 12th place in the standings after 15 days, with 17 points taken. The “Rouge et Noir” will go to Nice on January 3, for their first match of 2025.
