At 37, Vasco da Gama playmaker Dimitri Payet does not rule out playing one day with his little brother, Anthony. Ten years his junior, the Reunion center forward plays in National 3, in Romorantin.
Dimitri Payet still dreams. At 37, the former OM playmaker is enjoying the heyday of Vasco da Gama in Brazil. Always looking for new challenges, he still has plenty to experience on the pitch before putting away his crampons. Among his dreams, there is one that seems difficult to achieve but not impossible: playing with his little brother Anthony.
Ten years separate the two brothers. Anthony Payet, 27, plays in National 3 as a center forward at Romorantin where he already played between 2019 and 2021. After a complicated start at Guingamp where the pressure of being the “brother of” weighed on his shoulders, he freed himself from this heavy label and played more liberated without however succeeding in breaking through to the highest level.
Payet: “I would like to play with one of my sons”
What if the Payet brothers were one day reunited in a club? “I always think about it, admits Dimitri Payet in an interview with his brother with Le Parisien. I haven't given up on the idea. Nothing is impossible. I would like to play with one of my sons, but given their age (9, 11 and 15 years old), it looks very complicated With Antho, it remains feasible. We have a few years left and on the ground, the connection would not be natural. look at yourself to understand yourself and find. The bet is on.”
A bet that naturally excites Anthony even if the latter seems clearly less optimistic: “What fun that would have been! Something incredible. With his quality of passing and his caviars, I would have enjoyed it. To evolve in front of him is holy bread for a center forward,” assures the Romorantin player.
