Real Madrid’s Brazilian striker Vinicius Jr won the ‘jackpot’ at the Globe Awards gala held on Friday in Dubai. He was voted best footballer in the world in 2024, during this 15th edition where Real Madrid players were the majority in the men’s category and FC Barcelona players in the women’s category.

The Real Madrid won several trophies, including those like best club, best coach (Carlo Ancelotti), best president (Florentino Pérez), best midfielder (Jude Bellingham), best striker and best player, the latter two going to the Brazilian, who broke a tie with Rodri in terms of accolades in 2024.

Vinicius thus erases, if only in part, the bad aftertaste which prevented him from winning the Ballon d’Or last October. Indeed, during the same gala this Friday, Cristiano Ronaldo said the former Flamengo player deserved the trophy, which was “unfairly” awarded to the Manchester City midfielder.

During the calendar year, Vinicius Jr. played 54 official matches. In total, he played 4,408 minutes, scored 34 goals and provided 14 assists. He also won the Champions League and La Liga with Madrid.
