Now thriving at Stade Brestois where he had a brilliant end to the year 2024, Julien Le Cardinal (27) returned for Foot Mercato on his resounding failure at RC Lens where he arrived from Ligue 2 in November 2022 without ever really joining. ‘impose on it. An experience that he nevertheless considers “positive” in his learning:
“I already think that it was a choice that helped me by leaving Paris FC when I had the chance to sign for Lens. I think that’s where it all started. Discovering the high level in Lens, which was really on the roof of Ligue 1 when I signed there, was incredible, especially as this experience taught me a lot. So there you have it, I think it was this choice that started it all.”
The Cardinal believes he had a “real experience” in Lens
Believing that he had not evolved at his “real level” nor “really at (his) real position” in Artois, The Cardinal really only keeps strong memories of his experience in the North: “In nine months, I rubbed shoulders with a top coach and players who have experience, real life. In Lens, despite limited playing time, I really learned things that made me grow.”
Now flourishing at SB29 where he continues the matches in his real position of central defender, the person concerned is no longer making plans for the comet of his future: “Today, I still have 2 and a half years of contract with Brest. At the moment, we don’t know what life has in store for us. There, I am happy in Brest, what you can wish me is many other great victories with the Brest stadium.”
