If RC Lens is forced to replenish its coffers this winter after not having reached its sales target last summer, set at 100 million euros, Emmanuel Petit remains pensive about this policy and these choices which, according to the 1998 world champion, do not resemble what has made the Sang et Or strong in recent years.
Small “not entirely agree” with the vision of RC Lens
“The need to sell? I was very surprised by this announcement, in addition to appointing (Jorge) Mendes (to encourage the departure of Abdukodir Khusanov, editor's note). As if it was absolutely necessary to go through Mendes to sell a player for 40 million euros. Since RC Lens' return to Ligue 1, I found that the project was going well and that the management was really good. Unless there is information that I don't know, but does RC Lens absolutely need to replenish its coffers and are forced to sell despite the bloated workforce?
Knowing that they are not very far from the podium and that there is the Champions League or a European place to seek… It is a club which was becoming more and more sympathetic in France while making a name for itself on the European scene, with great attractiveness in the transfer window. There was a very positive dynamic. The management of this club seems healthy to me, with players sold and investments in others. Even if there are two or three extra elements, I wonder if the desire to sell will not tarnish the dynamic in place at RC Lens. I don't completely agree with what's going on there. »
