Rémy Cabella, attacking midfielder from Lille, published two messages of love for Montpellier, his training club after the heated draw between the two teams (2-2) on Sunday, marked in particular by an elbow on Téji Savanier with whom he would have a dispute.
There was a lot of tension and emotion on Sunday during the match between Montpellier and Lille (2-2). On the benches, Jean-Louis Gasset, Montpellier coach, was excluded while Bruno Genesio, his colleague from Lille, almost attacked Tanguy Coulibaly (also excluded). It was also very tense on the pitch, especially between Rémy Cabella and Téji Savanier. The first named miraculously escaped the red card after elbowing the second in the lower face, who whispered some pleasantries in his ear.
“I would have liked the story to end where it began… but not for some”
On Monday, the Lille attacking midfielder published two messages on Instagram to recall his love for Montpellier, his training club. He played professionally there from 2009 to 2014, participated in the historic title of French champion in 2012 before returning in 2022 after his departure from Russia and Krasnodar. But this return did not go as he hoped. After five matches played in Ligue 1, Cabella finally left the club the following summer, against his will, he assures on Instagram. He bounced back in Lille a few weeks later.
“Know that I would have liked the story to end where it began… but not for some,” he wrote on a wall of images recalling his fond memories at the club. “I will never be grateful enough to LOSC for trusting me and making me live a dream and being happy today.”
The reasons for this shortened second stint could be linked to a dispute with Téji Savanier. In any case, this is the version of journalist Grégory Schneider who indicates, on the Channel L'Equipe, that Savanier would have asked his president Laurent Nicollin to choose between him or Cabella in the summer of 2022. With the last word for Savanier, always at MHSC. Obviously a little bitter with “some”, Cabella posted another message of love to the MHSC and its supporters.
“I would also like to thank everyone who supports the MHSC and still supports me today,” he wrote. “I love and will always love the club, I will never forget the magical moments we all experienced together. Thank you to everyone who sent me messages. My heart goes out to JLG (Jean- Louis Gasset) and Ghis (Ghislain Printant) to save the club Heart on everyone.
