In search of liquidity during the next transfer window to pass the DNCG toll at the end of the season without incident, Olympique Lyonnais could part ways with Rayan Cherki as early as January.
A few weeks ago, the financial policeman of French Football slapped John Textor hard on the fingers, notably inflicting a precautionary demotion to L2 and a ban on recruitment for the next transfer window. To avoid the worst at the end of the season, OL will therefore have to bring in between 100 and 200 million euros. A mission that Textor wants to carry out to silence its detractors. If the first good news came this weekend, with the 71 million euros pocketed by Botafogo, another club in the Eagle Football group, thanks to the victory in the Copa Libertadores, Lyon will still have to sell certain players during the next market transfers. To balance its books, OL is preparing to part ways with several elements, such as Orban, Zaha and Caqueret. But if the Gones want to replenish their coffers, they will have to sell bankable players, like Fofana or Cherki.
West Ham does not let go of Cherki
Extended until 2026 last September, the Frenchman continues to make waves across Europe. Author of a remarkable first part of the season, with three goals and three assists in 14 matches, Cherki is attracting the interest of several European giants. Present in this matter for several months, PSG and Liverpool are still following Cherki to possibly strengthen their offensive sector in 2025. But West Ham is still the hottest club to buy Cherki during the next transfer window. According to information from The Athletic, the Hammers plan to return to the charge in January and thus take advantage of OL's financial difficulties to recover a great talent at a knockdown price… or not. Since despite a certain financial pressure, Lyon does not intend to let go of one of the main weapons of its game for less than 30 million euros. An amount which does not, however, scare the London club, potential savior of John Textor.
