The war between PSG and the town hall of Paris via Anne Hidalgo is not ready to stop despite the fact that the mayor of Paris will not run again in 2026. A decision which could have led to new negotiations for the buyout of the Parc des Princes. But this is not the case and Nasser El Khelaifi made it clear reveals Le Parisien: the future of PSG will be written far from the Parc des Princes and outside the capital. A radical decision but not unexpected as the pressure from the leaders was strong to have the last word and finally launch its major project: a stadium for 80,000, 90,000 like the other big clubs in Europe. It is therefore no longer a bluff but a firm and definitive decision even if Nasser would have liked another outcome. “I really like the Park, everyone loves it. If I listen to my heart, we're not leaving. » But the Park does not seem to live up to its ambitions.
An ultra modern project for the new stadium
For this project, the president of the club can count on the support of several local partners including Valérie Pécresse, president of the Ile de France region, who voted on September 11 for a motion to make 50 hectares available. The architects of the American firm Populos have already envisaged a modular enclosure with a capacity ranging from 50,000 to 90,000 seats, which will be able to host PSG matches but also other sporting events and concerts. PSG wants to project itself over 50 years and the cost of the operation would amount to more than a billion euros. Capacity that the Parc des Princes could not have offered, having become too old and could not have exceeded 60,000 places because of its geographical location.
