Yesterday evening at La Beaujoire was marked by regrettable incidents which could have serious consequences for FC Nantes and its supporters. After the defeat of the Canaries against Le Havre (0-2), some of the Nantes fans tried to invade the lawn, causing a momentary interruption of the match. Although quickly stopped by the gates and stewards, these excesses sparked a strong reaction from the authorities. The event caused an interruption of the match and could cost the FCN dearly, underlines our colleagues from Ouest France.
The Loire Brigade in the sights of the Ministry of the Interior
But beyond the financial sanctions that could be inflicted on the club, it is the most iconic group of supporters of FC Nantes which today finds itself threatened. According to information from Ouest France, the Ministry of the Interior is studying “very seriously” the possibility of launching a procedure of dissolution of the Loire Brigade. This radical decision, if confirmed, would deal a severe blow to the very identity of the club and its public.
Additional aspects
Beyond this threat of dissolution, the coming weeks promise to be decisive for FC Nantes. On a sporting level, the situation in the ranking becomes worrying after this new defeat at home. The pressure is starting to mount on Antoine Kombouaré's shoulders, even if his future at the head of the team does not yet seem to be in question according to observers.
