While OM have just won in Lens and remain 3rd in Ligue 1, the inconsistency of Marseille's game does not suit all observers. During an intervention on RMC Sport, former OM striker, Marc Libbra, expressed strong criticism of Roberto De Zerbi, the Marseille coach.
After twelve days of Ligue 1 and before the trip to Lens, Mark Libra believed that the Italian coach has not yet succeeded in imposing a convincing style of play on his team. According to him, OM has still not found its rhythm and the results are struggling to be there. “What bothers me is that, after twelve days, what have we seen? »declared the former attacker on RMC. He emphasizes that OM is struggling to “establish your domination” on the pitch and lack of consistency in key moments of matches. “It’s still not controlled enough, it’s at times”he declares, believing that the Marseille team is not managing to be sufficiently consistent. For Libbra, De Zerbi should have already imposed a clear playing identity at this stage of the season.

Libbra also emphasizes that a coach has plenty of time to make adjustments after several months of working with his team. “After twelve days, you know your squad, you have prepared it”he adds, emphasizing that OM has not yet found the miracle solution. According to the former striker, the tactical approach of By Zerbi does not seem suited to OM, and he questions his ability to succeed in the long term. “For me, what De Zerbi wants to put in place will not work at OM”he concludes.
From Zerbi to OM: It won't work according to Libbra!
Since taking over as head of Olympique de Marseille, Roberto De Zerbi has seen his team alternate between good and bad performances. We must take into account the profound renewal of the squad carried out this summer and the youth of the group, especially in certain sectors of play.

Marc Libbra's criticisms are not the only ones to highlight the difficulties encountered by OM at the start of the season. The lack of stability and efficiency in decisive moments remains a major problem for the team, which still seems far from being a well-oiled machine. If this inconsistency and the lack of play displayed especially at the Vélodrome are an unavoidable problem, beyond thinking that Roberto DeZerbi will never get there is a very premature shortcut…
