L’ALSO Auxerre continues its good momentum in Ligue 1. After a resounding victory against Olympique de Marseille, the Auxerrois achieved a valuable success against Angers SCO this Sunday evening (1-0). At the end of this meeting, the coach Christophe Pélissier shared his first impressions.
Christophe Pélissier congratulates his players after a complicated match
Despite the victory, the duel against Angers SCO was not a cakewalk for the AJA. Long held in check, the Burgundian club struggled to get rid of the Angevin defense. It was ultimately a saving goal from Hamed Junior Traoré in the 90th minute which gave the visitors victory.
At a press conference, Christophe Pélissier did not fail to praise the performances of its players, in particular those of goalkeeper Donovan Léon and the young Ivorian striker Hamed Junior Traoré.
« Dono makes a great exit at the very end of the match. And then, we have this little extra thing, called Junior, and who takes out a thorn in our side. » The French coach was also delighted with the collective state of mind of his team, while recognizing that the level of play could still be improved.
« We live for these moments. This goal triggers joy and emotions. This group is starting to become aware of its qualities. My players will do even better in the future, but tonight, the main thing is there: we won. We had a very average match, but the fact of not giving up and going for a victory like that is an excellent sign for the group. »
Thanks to this victory, theALSO Auxerre climbs to sixth place in the Ligue 1 standings, provisionally occupying a qualifying place for the Europa Conference League. However, Christophe Pélissier prefers to keep his feet on the ground and concentrate on his team's performance. “ With the players, we never talked about rankings. We advance game after game, and the goal is to improve every day. »
