It is 8 p.m. at the headquarters of La France Insoumise in Marseille, Sunday, June 30. The results of the national legislative elections have just been announced, including the large place given to the National Rally (33.4%).

These results are not surprising, we expected them. This week, we are going to go back there, from midnight tonight you will see us sticking and pulling (Frédéric Espi, LFI activist in the 5th constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône)

Big victory for Manuel Bompard and Sébastien Delogu

It is a little after 10 p.m. when cries of joy and applause ring out among the activists: Manuel Bompard, candidate for the New Popular Front in the 4th constituency in Marseille, has been elected with 67% of the vote.

It is a very good surprise that Manuel Bompard was elected in the first round, which will allow him to campaign in both constituencies (Kalila Sevin, Manuel Bompard’s substitute)

Indeed, in the 5th constituency, Hendrik Davi, outgoing deputy and LFI dissident candidate, took 2nd place (24.44%) against the “official” NFP candidate, Allan Popelard (23.32%), who announced its withdrawal to block the RN which came out on top (25.77%).

“We are at home”

A few minutes later, there was a new burst of joy at the headquarters of La France Insoumise in Marseille: Sébastien Delogu, NFP candidate for the 7th constituency, covering the northern districts in particular, was elected with 60% of the vote. He arrived shortly afterwards for a walkabout with the activists.

I am proud of the Marseille left and of France Insoumise because it is the first political party to try to push back the extreme right in this country (Sébastien Delogu, NFP deputy elected in the first round)

And to take up the slogan “wrongly taken up by the National Front”, assures the elected official, “We are at home!”
