The 4th day of the 2025 Under-20 CAN qualifiers had serious consequences this Saturday in the North Africa Zone (UNAF).

With their backs against the wall, Algeria lost one match too many by losing to the wire against Tunisia (2-1) at the Suez Stadium in Egypt. THE Fennecs U20 nevertheless had the opportunity to open the scoring but, like facing Morocco (1-1) on Wednesday, they missed a penalty obtained by Ben Ahmed Kohili, captain Anis Fetahine seeing Tunisian goalkeeper Rayan Besbes divert his attempt.

On the counter, Abdelhamid Naim scored against his camp by diverting a cross into his own net (77th). Islam Abbaci equalized straight away on a cross from Kohili (81st). But Amanallah Mehrezi crucified the Algerians by offering victory to the Carthage Eagles in the 96th minute from a corner.

0/2 for Algeria

After being caught in the 86th minute by Morocco during their previous match, Yacine Manaâ's foals once again failed in the money time. One defeat too many, which seals their elimination. After the U17, also eliminated, Algeria fails and will not be present at the next CAN U17 nor at the U20.

Morocco unfolds

For its part, Tunisia will be able to approach its final day clash against the Egyptian host in a position of strength on Tuesday and a draw will be enough to validate its ticket. This result also had the consequence of qualifying the Morocco even before his match against Libya. This did not prevent the Lion Cubs of the Atlas from doing the job and even more by scoring 4-0 thanks to Dahak (21st), El Hannach (45th+2), Arguigue (53rd) and El Haddad (71st). A big victory which also ensures first place.

The ranking of the UNAF U20 Tournament

  1. Morocco, 10 points (no matches left)
  2. Tunisia, 6 points (still 1 match to play)
  3. Egypt, 4 points (still 1 match to play)
  4. Algeria, 2 points (still 1 match to play)
  5. Libya, 0 points (still 1 match to play)
