Thunderclap, a Blue ready to retire?

Tired of his short playing time in the French team, a Blue could make a radical decision…

After its insipid draw against Israel (0-0), the team delivered its best match for several months in Italy (1-3), last Sunday at San Siro. A success which allowed the Blues to take first place in the group, and thus receive in the quarter-final return leg of the Nations League next March.

A gathering in which Ousmane Dembélé, slightly injured, did not participate. The Parisian winger was replaced by Kingsley Coman, who had not been called up by Didier Deschamps during the last two international windows. RMC Sport, however, tells us that the Bavarian had serious hesitations before responding positively to this summons.

Coman wants to focus on Bayern

The reason? Kingsley Coman would only feel limited confidence from the coach, and would therefore ask questions about his place in the France team. It must be said that in 58 caps (8 goals), the former Parisian has never played a single match in full. Proof that he was not an important element in the eyes of “DD”. And it’s not this November rally that will change the 28-year-old winger’s mind.

Indeed, Coman only played 19 minutes against Israel and remained on the substitutes' bench for the entire match against Squadra Azzurra. Faced with this situation, the native could decide to take a step back from the selection, again according to the same source. With the expected returns of Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé at the upcoming March rally, Coman would expect to not feature in Deschamps' list. What could push him to concentrate on his club career… and retire internationally?
