Nathanaël Bai: “Without this response from Erwan, I would no longer be a footballer today. I am sure, I would have stopped”

On TV7, the Girondins de Bordeaux full-back, Nathanaël Baitold how he returned to the Girondins de Bordeaux, when he was free from any contract.

“Last year, I played in National 3, and I didn’t necessarily play much. When the season ended, I was looking for a club, and I sent a few messages, but there was either no response, negative responses, or we were talking but in the end it didn't work out. It didn't go as planned. So I told myself that I had gone around the National 3, and why not stop, why not see something else. That's when I sent a message to coach Erwan Lannuzel. I didn't tell myself that he was going to respond favorably, in fact I didn't even tell myself that he was going to respond to me. In the end, he answered me and it happened very quickly. It’s thanks to him that I am here today.”

Without this response from the current reserve coach, the Bordeaux player would most likely have stopped playing football permanently. Finally, according to him, it is even a certainty.

“Yes, if it hadn't been for that response, I wouldn't be a footballer today, exactly. It’s not maybe, I’m sure, I would have stopped.”
