Excluded from the professional group and even laid off at the end of July, Chancel Mbemba is still an OM player, with whom he is under contract until June 2025. The Congolese international could, however, have gone to Saudi Arabia, to Al-Shabab, at the end of the summer transfer window, but wanted to leave free, when the club was awaiting transfer compensation.

Arrived from FC Porto in July 2022 and almost indispensable since then, Chancel Mbemba is now persona non grata at theABOUT. As Samuel Gigot et Jordan Veretoutthe club wanted to part with it last summer, but unlike them, who respectively left for Lazio and theOLthe 30-year-old defender is still in Marseille, where his contract runs until June 2025.

Relations strained for a while

Beyond the desires ofABOUT to part with it, the summer of Chancel Mbemba was marked by an altercation with Ali Zarar at the end of July, which earned him a layoff with salary deduction. As indicated by The Teamthe first disagreements appeared in the summer of 2023 and relations between the Congolese international (85 caps) and the club have cooled significantly since then.

OM did not want to let him go free

Which explains why Chancel Mbemba did not want to give any gifts toABOUT. According to The Teamat the end of the summer market, l'agent Federico Pastorello arrived with an offer ofAl-Shababwhich offered a financially attractive two-year contract for the player. But the latter wanted to go free, while theABOUT wanted to recover transfer compensation, compromising his departure in Saudi Arabia.
