For the visit of AS Saint-Etienne, OL chose not to limit themselves to the simple stand on the Gérard Houllier pitch. More than 2,000 people are expected at GOLTC this Saturday evening (9 p.m.).
We will be very far from the 58,082 spectators counted last Sunday at Parc OL, but the second derby between theOL and theAS Saint-Etienne in one week will also be synonymous with record attendance. On Friday, the club confirmed to us that the milestone of 2,000 places had already been passed for the women's derby and that the objective was to reach the maximum capacity of the Gérard field Houlliernamely nearly 2,500 places. How to arrive at such a total? With a quickly filled grandstand of honor with its 1,500 seats, theOL has chosen to sell standing places all around the field in order to increase the capacity.
Majri: “Might as well play in front of 2,000 people with a great atmosphere”
Despite the cold which is starting to take hold of the Lyon area and the late schedule, the regional confrontation also attracted people and it was a great success for the women's section. If the derby had not been included in the specifications of the 10 meetings negotiated at Parc OL, the atmosphere will still be overheated on the GOLTC side and this will not displease Amel Majri. Between a small, packed pitch and the comfort of the depopulated Grand Stade, the Lyon player made her choice. “We know that we will not fill Parc OL, so, honestly, we might as well play it here (at GOLTC) in front of 1,500 or 2,000 spectators with a great atmosphere all the same.”
