After winning their last match against Fleury last week with a score of 3-2, the ASSE players are preparing to play their Derby! A meeting scheduled for this Saturday at 9 p.m. against Olympique Lyonnais.
Is ASSE finding new momentum?
After three victories, then three defeats, the Stéphanoises began their championship by alternating good starts and rapid disappointments. The match played last week was therefore an opportunity to measure the trajectory taken by the Greens. Everything started well for ASSE, who opened the scoring and even took a three-goal lead (3-0). However, the visitors reacted quickly, scoring two goals and even a third, fortunately canceled for offside… After the match, Saint-Etienne coach Laurent Mortel shared his reaction on the club's official website.
“We had a good first period where we scored twice. We could have even done better. Our start to the second period was more complicated, even if we managed to add a goal. At the end of the match, we were a little afraid, and we can regret the hand not whistled on the second goal.”
Lyon, a formidable team
OL is a team of a completely different caliber. At the top of the championship, the Rhodaniennes are also involved in the Champions League. In France, only Paris FC managed to take a point against them this season. Good news for the Greens, who won against the Parisiennes a month ago! However, the Derby promises to be very difficult. Lyon remains on an 8-0 success against Guingamp. They have the best attack with 29 goals scored and the best defense, with only 2 goals conceded! We will have to be very realistic when the opportunities present themselves, while maintaining a solid defense on the Saint-Etienne side. See you at 9 p.m. on Canal+ Foot or at the Stade Gérard Houllier.
