The international break in November 2024 is an opportunity for many Olympique de Marseille players to join their national teams. Several Olympians will thus be involved in high-level competitions, between qualifications for the World Cup or the CAN, the Nations League.
Argentina, reigning world champion, suffered a surprising defeat (2-1) against Paraguay during qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. In Asuncion, the Albiceleste nevertheless dominated with great possession (77%) , but was overthrown by a strong and opportunistic Paraguayan team. Lautaro Martínez had opened the scoring in the 11th minute, but Paraguay reacted quickly with a superb bicycleAntonio Sanabria in the 19th minute. In the second half, Omar Alderete gave his team the advantage with a header (47th), thus sealing the fate of the match.
Leonardo Balerdi came on in the 46th minute of the match, but could not prevent his team's defeat. He is even in the game on the second goal by making the mistake which leads to the free kick… After the match, the coach Lionel Scaloni praised Paraguay's defensive performance, while Lautaro Martínez, angry, deplored the lack of sanction against Alderete after a rough intervention on Lionel Messi.

Panama won their match 1-0 in Costa Rica thanks to a penalty converted by José Fajardo. Amir Murillo, lined up from the start, played the entire match, thus consolidating his key role within the Panamanian selection. His presence on the pitch once again proved his importance in this team.
Geoffrey Kondogbia lost with the Central African Republic against Lesotho.
