Rubén Peña, Osasuna player, spoke to EFE this Thursday after the heavy defeat conceded at the Bernabéu (4-0).
“When we suffer this kind of setback, we would like to play again straight away… We must be able to change our state of mind, recharge our batteries as a family to forget everything that happened because it is necessary, because the season can be very long,” he first admitted.
On the beating suffered at the Bernabéu last Saturday, he admits that… “We had the desire and the ambition to obtain something there, without the pressure of the points to be taken. We must recognize that they surpassed us by end to end, we had no options in this match.”
“The concern about the lack of intensity should be taken with a grain of salt. We looked at each other, we were tired and we couldn't do it because we had the impression of being outclassed in every action. It was very complex … especially since for me, we saw the best Real Madrid of the year,” he continues.
“We are 5th (in LaLiga) with 21 points, we feel very good and we have to focus on that and on how we are going to approach the break,” adds Rubén Peña, who at 33 is in his third season in Pamplona .
“When there's a change, it's true that you never know how it's going to happen. You're a little scared. It's an incredible group and club, and we're all rowing in the same direction. “That's why everything went well and the coach added all the concepts he wanted,” he explains about the new phase with Vicente Moreno.
He assures that the adaptation to the new coach “was very good. After six years, he had a clear idea, that of not changing everything radically, because it is not a locker room that changes every two years, but a locker room that is very comfortable, where people have been there for several seasons.”
Next week, he will face Villarreal, his former club: “It's very special. To win a title with this club, it says a lot. It allows you to remember the time when you were there, with the good and the bad moments But I'm looking forward to taking the three points against a very fit team.”
