Despite their defeat against Barça last night, players and community managers of Red Star Belgrade were keen to highlight the positive, having managed to thwart the Catalan defense twice despite having conceded five.
Midfielder Elsnik was the first to draw a comparison between the 0-4 Clasico at the Bernabeu and Barca's 2-5 victory in Belgrade. The Serbian club then published a video on its social networks that was even more explicit in its desire to accommodate Real Madrid, who had not asked for anything.
Timi Max Elsnik, Red Star's 26-year-old Slovenian midfielder, speaking to the UEFA Champions League shortly after the match, acknowledged Barça's superiority in Belgrade and, in the process, made a somewhat somewhat inopportune with Real Madrid, recalling the humiliation of the recent Clasico.
“At least we can say that we scored more goals at Barça than Real Madrid did,” Elsnik said with a smile, visibly satisfied with his team's performance.
And then it was the Serbian club itself which this Thursday made fun of Real Madrid by publishing a short video on its X account accompanied by the message: “Hello @realmadrid, we may have lost, but we scored two goals.
Elsnik, at least, had introduced his little mockery, even if the smile ended up escaping him: “You have to congratulate Barça for their victory, they have some of the best players in the world. We tried to compete, but at least the less we can say that we have scored more goals than Real Madrid”. Sad.
